Why do I need a creative design package?
Your image needs to be distinctive, identifiable, and set you apart from your competition. In today's world, image matters. When your website, brochures, billboards, newspaper ads, business cards, tv commercials, flyers, and other materials match, people know your company/brand by that image. Customers can identify you by your colors, fonts, and look from a distance, without even reading your billboard or newspaper ad. You will receive more return for your advertising dollar if people can identify you from a distance.

Do I really need a website?
Everyone needs a website. The phone book is not used. People look up phone numbers and find you on their iPhones. The real question is how big and technical does your site need to be. The visual impression a potential client has of your product or service is what makes the difference between them choosing you or your competitor. Can you afford not to have a website?

Can I afford a website?
We build custom sites to fit within a budget. Many clients tell us how much they can afford, and in most cases, we can design a site to fit within that budget. If you only need a simple one-page site that gives your company's information like address, phone number, and what you sell or provide, we can accommodate that. We are not a typical agency that only accepts high end clients.

How much does a website cost?
The cost of a website depends on the number of pages; how much work it would entail; and the amount of high-level programming, flash animation, and other items. For a standard small business website, the average is about $600. The cost of flash animation, coding (PHP, ASP, JAVA), shopping carts, and other programming is based on the depth of the work and is priced per individual job.

Do you trade services for design?
On occasion we trade part of our services. If you think you have a service we need, it never hurts to ask.

What all do I need to have before you begin a website or brochure?
1 - The style of design you are interested in. If you like colors from another website, send us the link the site.
2 - For a website, the number of pages you would need. The number of pages helps determine the cost.
3 - Let us know what all needs to be edited. Let us know if you need a lot of photo editing and on websites need flash animation, a shopping cart, ASP coding, PHP coding, Cold Fusion coding, or other add-ons. If you are not sure, we can help you decide what is needed and what is "just for show."
4 - The text you need on the website or piece. Please have the information in a word document, text, or similar format making it easy to copy and paste.
5 - Any images you want on the website or piece. We prefer a cd containing all your information. However, we understand that time is a factor and accept information by e-mail.

What are the terms design work?
Under most situations, 50-percent down and 50-percent once completed.

What if I do not like the website or image package?
After the initial design, you will be e-mailed or given a link to view the graphics and approve it. If you have a website with flash animation or special coding, it usually will not be complete at this time. If you are not satisfied when you see it, or any other time, let us know and we will work to fix what you do not like. We strive for complete satisfaction. Never hesitate to say you do not like it.

What if I need changes to a website once it is launched? After the website is launched, you have a few weeks to "refine" your wording and make changes. After that period, we give free "occasional" updates, if the update is 15-minutes or less. Many clients change their wording each season and we just copy and paste their information in at no extra cost. If you need additional changes, the standard rate is $35-per-hour. If you know you need time-consuming updates, we can create a package that includes your updates, which will save you money. You can pay yearly or monthly. For example, annual festivals and events contract us to provide a massive update once-a-year with several small updates closer to the event.

How long does it take to build and design a website or printed project?
The timeline depends on many factors and varies: The scale of your project, the amount of time-consuming detail work, and amount of coding on a website. A website or printed piece may take only a couple days from start to finish, others with a lot of graphics or websites with animation or coding take longer. If you are receiving an image package, we need time to research your competition and find an image that will help you "stand out in a crowd." We will give you a timeframe based on our initial discussion.

Another company told me they can design my website or printed piece in 30-minutes, why can't you?
If a website or printed piece is designed that fast, they are using the same template for all their clients and nothing is custom or unique. If you want to "Stand Out In A Crowd" with a creative look, it will take longer than 30-minutes to design.

Do you use frames in your website designs?
No. The use of frames is an easy design, but not good for you! Google and other search engines do not read frames. Companies use frames because they can use the same design over and over again. We want you to get the most out of your website and help create a brand.

What is a domain name? Do I need one? How does it work?
Your website content is held on a server computer with a unique address called an IP address. An IP address is made up of a series of numbers, such as 123.23.234.45. Your domain name points to the server where your information is stored. www.bluekeycreative.com is easier to type and remember than 123.23.234.45. No one would visit your site without one. All your domain name questions can be found through our domain help center.

What is website hosting? Do I need it?
Your website content must be loaded onto a server computer that is connected to the internet. A domain name points to that server computer and your content. Hosting is the renting of server space to store your information. There may be times when several hundred people are on your website at one time. Our servers are connected to the internet through a large enough connection to handle the high volume traffic and are monitored 24/7.

If you design a website for me, do I have to host it through you as well?
No. You may host through with any company you want. Make sure to tell us what type of server you would be using and the name of the company because each server reacts differently to codes. If the other company does not have the proper software installed on its servers, your website's flash animation or coding will not work.

Can I host adult content?
No. There are several items that are not allowed, including adult content, explicit language, alcohol and tobacco sales, the promotion of illegal products, and others. This is just a partial listing. Make sure you read our legal agreements before signing up with a hosting account. We also do not allow spam from any e-mail address.

I registered a domain name through another company, can my website be hosted by you?
Absolutely, as long as the company you registered the domain name with allows outside hosting. Most companies will allow the domain name to be "pointed" to our servers with a simple change of DNS settings. Some companies do not allow domain pointing unless your site is hosted with them. If they do not allow outside hosting, you can transfer most domain names to our servers for $9.99 per year.

I want to register several domain names and have them all go to the same website. Is that possible?
Yes. It's called "website forwarding" or "website masking." With website forwarding, you have one primary domain name and all other domain names would be re-directed to the primary name. With website masking, the site's domain name would show whatever name the person typed in. One thing to note, Google and other search engines DO NOT like masking. They will decide to list only one of the domains or not list any at all!

Which website hosting package should I choose?
It depends on your needs. The most popular package is deluxe plan. It is your standard website hosting package. The Premium Plan is designed to accommodate high traffic sites.

Should I choose a Windows or Linux server to host my website?
That depends on what your site needs. Review the "Compare Windows" and "Compare Linux" on our hosting page.

Will I save money by purchasing a website domain name or hosting for more than a year?
Yes. Our plans are setup to save money for long-term clients.
A .com domain name would be $9.99 per year if purchase it each year. If you purchase it for 10-years, it would only be $7.85 per year. Our hosting plans are designed the same way.
